Steyn revealed that he was willing to take a pay cut to be a part of CSK and that he wouldn’t mind warming the bench.

Dale Steyn admitted that he was a big admirer of MS Dhoni, adding that he was ready to warm the bench in order to be with CSK beside the legend. The former South African pacer is eyeing more coaching roles with IPL teams in the future. Steyn is eager to try and replicate MS Dhoni to lead a franchise to multiple IPL titles.
“I am a big admirer of MS Dhoni – I always wanted to be part of CSK. I was even willing to take a pay cut just to be in the CSK environment. I was ready to sit on CSK’s bench if it meant being part of the team,” Dale Steyn said on a podcast.

“Understanding of the game and potentially to a better coach going in the future, because I would love now as I’m not a play anymore. I’d love to coach teams that can go on to win IPL’s, World Cups, and all these other trophies and I think if you learn from the best who’s done it the most in Dhoni that would have been quite nice,” Steyn added.

As a player, Steyn was one of the most feared fast bowlers in the IPL. Over his career, he represented several franchises, including Deccan Chargers, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Gujarat Lions. He was known for his ability to swing the ball at high speeds, which made him a valuable asset in T20 cricket.
Steyn last played in the IPL for Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2020 before transitioning to a coaching role with Sunrisers Hyderabad ahead of the 2022 season. His experience and influence as a coach were instrumental in the success of the team’s young bowlers.
