New Zealand fielding maestro Glenn Phillips once again showed why he is known as “Superman.” In the ongoing 1st Test match against England at Christchurch, the Kiwi star took a breathtaking catch to dismiss England batter Ollie Pope, who was looking well set after already making 77 and inching towards 100. Phillips came between Pope and his century with a sensational one-handed screamer at gully, helping New Zealand break a crucial partnership between Harry Brook and Pope.
Kiwi veteran Tim Southee bowled a length ball around off, and Pope was looking to play a cut shot. The ball flew off the bat and looked set for a boundary, but Phillips, like Superman, leapt into action to stop the ball in mid-air, taking the catch and sending a sudden shock to the England pavilion.
It’s worth noting that this is not the first time we’ve seen Glenn Phillips brilliance in the field. On numerous occasions in the past, this star has always come out on top. The New Zealand all-rounder is known for his acrobatic fielding, and what makes him special is his flexibility, whether batting in any position or as a wicket-taking bowler and fielder.
